Your Stories - What you think of TalkEczema

Thank you for setting up this site - Anita, Sydney, Australia

I just wanted to say thank you for setting up your web site!  Without it, I would not have discovered Sue Armstrong-Brown's book - the programme has been incredibly effective in clearing my daughter Isabella's eczema.  She is 7 years old and, for the first time in many years, she is completely eczema free!   I was glad to read that your daughter's eczema is also under control - I know from experience how heartbreaking it is to watch your little girl in pain and scratching away at her skin. (May 2008)

Thank You for this site - Louise, Haslingden, Lancashire, UK

I just want to say that this website is fabulous. All my life I have always wanted to talk to people who were in the same position as me with Eczema and I now can. So thankyou so much. (August 2007)

I just found your web site - what a breath of fresh air - Vic, UK

I love the site and I will be coming back on a very regular basis. It's just what us 'sufferers' needed. To air our frustration at this condition that nobody seems to fully understand competently or completely. Regards, Vic. (June 2007)

Thanks for a great web site - Darylann, New Zealand

Thanks for a great web site my 6 year old son suffers severe eczema and sometimes feels like he is the only one it means so much to him and to me to find out about others all over the world that also have eczema. We have tried and still try many things and just when we think we have it under control we get a flare up,one thing that we have found that helps is for him to have a couple of days of even afternoons off school we are able to do real good job on the creams and he can also relax a bit, I do do some extra school work with him, but as we think that stress plays a part in his eczema he is usually a different boy after a couple of days , I am lucky that I do not go out to work and can have him home. His twin sister who does not have eczema gets special time at other times and his little brother and sister love it when he is home. We do not do it too often maybe a few times a year, only when we feel he is not coping, and he does do school work at home. (June 2007) Contact Darylann

Support Group - Jessica, Canada

I am 23 years old and I have had eczema for as long as I can remember. I came across this web site and it made me feel better to know I am not alone. I saw one comment on the web site where someone said it seems like you never see any other eczema sufferers anywhere and I know exactly what they mean! Sometimes I would wonder "is there anyone who feels the way I do?" I would love to start a support group in my area but I wouldn't know how to go about it. A big part of living with eczema is how it has affected my self-confidence. During really bad flare-ups I don't even want to leave my house and I feel like all people will notice is how red and dry my face is. I have even avoided going out to visit friends or to different events because I'm ashamed of how I look. It's also not much fun when its' blistering hot outside and I will wear long sleeve shirts just to hide my eczema. It would be nice to have others to talk to who know what it's like to live with eczema. I have accepted the fact that my eczema is never going to go away and that I have to come to terms with this. On a lighter note...has anyone ever been told "DON'T SCRATCH!" ? If I had a dollar for every time I was told this by friends and relatives I would be rich! I always found it funny when I was told this because as you all know its easier said then done. As I got older I would ask "If you had an itch on your nose would you leave it?" I think not. Just something that always amuses me about having eczema that I wanted to share. (March 2007) Contact Jessica

Finding this site makes me feel better - Steve, Northants, UK

Not sure about others on here, but just knowing you are not alone in this helps dramatically. I've suffered for years with eczema, and it amazes me that you never seem to see other people on the street with it!! You always think YOU are the only one. I get it just about everywhere at some point, and it goes in cycles as to where it wants to be. The worst place I feel it comes to is my face. I cant shave properly, and when I do, I can feel the moisture in my skin evaporating by the second!

Finding this site is making me feel a whole lot better, just knowing that somewhere out there, someone else understands how I feel, understands how debilitating it can be, how depressing it can be. Now I've found this site, I can at last see a glimmer of hope. All the best to everyone on here!! (February 2007) Contact Steve

A great site, thanks to all of you - Joanna, London, UK

I just want to say how great I think this site is ... I'm 17 and have such a bad time with my eczema and it's just great to see people who are in their 40s and 50s and just getting on with their life. My eczema is really concentrated on my face and the way teenagers respond to that is just really bad ... they should put dealing with stuff like that on the curriculum! Just to say thanks to everyone who bothers to add their tips and advice and good luck on this web site. (January 2007) Contact Joanna
