The effect of Eczema on Relationships - Tina, USA

I have had eczema my entire life. I'm twenty eight years old. I have it on my legs arms and stomach. And the areas that have cleared up are left with a dark discoloration because I am African American. I find that I shy away from dating because I know that eventually the guy is going to want to get intimate and I'm ashamed for them to see my body. I'm also afraid of what they might say. I've had a lot of one night stands in dark rooms because I wanted to feel wanted by somebody, but I avoid serious relationships. When I decided to stop having one night stands I basically said good-bye to a sex life. Does anybody out there relate to what I'm saying? I just feel like I'm going to spend the rest of my life single because who would want someone with a rash all over their skin. Sometimes I feel doomed. (May 2007) Contact Tina
