Chinese Herbal Medicines have been a miracle cure for my eczema - Amy, Cheltenham, UK
I have suffered from Pompholyx Eczema for several years. The way I try to keep it at bay is by not eating certain foods such as seafood, fatty foods and anything with caffeine in. My flare ups occur mainly due to seasonal changes, soaps and detergents, if I've eaten anything I shouldn't and stress or worry. I have tried several ways to treat it including several types of creams and ointments from the doctors but have always found these too harsh on my skin. I have found a very good private doctor who specialises in chinese herbal medicines. Many people will be sceptical of these methods but after boiling and drinking the juice from what looks like a bunch of twigs, I saw a real difference in my skin after a day of treatment. Although the mixture is disgusting it's so worth it as it's completely cleared up within 2 weeks. I have no idea what's in it but it really is a miracle cure! (December 2009) Contact Amy
Chinese Medicine in Swansea - J Williams, Llanbedr, Wales
My son suffered from eczema from the age of 3 months until 7 months old thanks to a Chinese doctor in Swansea. He was covered head to toe. My wife went through the standard GP method. We had to cover him from head to toe in creams and wet wraps. He would scream himself to sleep in pain and discomfort. One weekend we went away on holiday to Butlins when he was 7 months old, just me and the kids. I got so fed up of seeing the discomfort he was in I decided to take him to a Chinese Doctor in Swansea when we got back. The doctor explained to me that eczema effects the nervous system and needed to be treated from the inside and that creams just treated the skins surface. Her explanation seemed logical and I did raise my concerns about herbal medicine and my son’s age. She said I would see a difference in three days. Leaving the surgery with a bag of herbs for a two week course and some skepticism we gave it a go.
True to her word three days later he was 95% clear and by the end of the two weeks he was 99% clear and only had some small clean dry patches. He’s now 4 years old and hasn't had eczema since. Don’t waste your money on creams and potions. (December 2007)
Chinese Medicines can contain steroids! - Louise, Kinver, UK
Be careful - I tried Chinese Medicine to help me avoid steroids and improve my quality of life. It worked and I was assured that no steroid were included. I persuaded a dermatologist to send the cream to a laboratory and analyze the cream that the Chinese had given me; it proved to contain very strong harmful steroids and I was mortified! I have since stopped this completely and feel very let down by these people. On the plus side I do now have my skin under control using a number of self help tactics and have steroids down to very very minimal use. I use: Eucerin (its great stuff) quick showers with little or no shower gels (so I don't dry my skin out), not too much alcohol, not many wheat products and drink loads of water. New Herbal Based Treatment - Khen Meng Kon, Kuala Lumpur, Malyasia
I recently attended a seminar on a new herbal based treatment for eczema & psoriasis. Its called Herose immunoplus/ eczema in some countries, manufactured by a company called Herose AG-Pharma.
The treatment is based on Chinese medicine but unlike TCM, this works differently and was researched by a chinese surgeon based in inner Mongolia. I was pretty much amazed at the pictures that were presented and this is the only treatment claimed to 'cure' this condition with no relapses observed. However, my only worry was the 'healing crisis' - it was mentioned that any users of topical/oral corticosteroid will have an initial flare up which could be very intense. But after this, the healing rate of lesions/areas affected improved dramatically based on the pictures we were shown.
Has anyone heard of this preparation and what is your experience with this? (February 2005) Contact Khen Meng Kon
