Reflexology is an ancient, natural and totally beneficial holistic treatment benefiting everyone from babies to the elderly. The reflexologist uses her thumb and fingers to detect sensitivities (reflexes) in the feet which correspond somatically to all the organs, glands and parts of the body. A good practitioner will look at all aspects of a client's health history and lifestyle in order to maximise energy flow and ensure improvement in the health and balance of the body in general.
The word 'eczema' comes from the Greek Ek Zeein, meaning to boil or seethe. In fact anything that can be thrown off or out by an internal reaction. Eczema and many other skin disorders can result from poor function and activity in the internal organs. If the kidneys, liver or bowels malfunction and do not eliminate toxins from the body, this can manifest itself in a range of skin disorders from occasional pimples to chronic eczema.
Stress can play a large part in skin disorders as it inhibits many functions of the body. For example, when adrenalin is released as a response to an intensely stressful situation, blood pressure increases, blood sugar levels are raised, the digestive system goes on hold, the body's inflammatory and immune systems decrease and the whole body is thrown out of balance. The body will react to these changes in the internal environment by throwing off accumulated toxins in the system and pass these out through the skin.
How can Reflexology help?
The Reflexologist will also take into consideration diet, particularly allergies, lactose intolerance and a possible adverse reaction to dairy products.
