The British Association of Dermatologists launch Sun Awareness Week
3rd May-10th May 2010
|
We have all become more aware of the risks of excessive sun burn associated with skin cancer formation, unfortunately this knowledge has come too late for those in their 60’s who when they were in their 20’s suffered regular sun damage with the introduction of the package holiday and also some sun bed treatments. As David R Gateley FRCS, Consultant Plastic Surgeon at St George's Hospital, London says “I believe we must remain vigilant and protect against sun burn at all ages, using a combination of sun screens with high SP factor and would encourage the use of sun protection swim wear." |
He continues, "The latter is a very practical way of keeping skin, both young and old safe, from harmful UVA and UVB rays. The use of sun protection hats which carry a UPF 50+ rating for adults and children and sun protection tops for older children, teenagers and adults are, I believe, an essential adjunct to the use of sunscreen. All my children used this combined protection against the sun.”
There is a wide range of sunscreens and sun protection clothing available. For people, and especially children with eczema, sun protection clothing can be the perfect solution to protecting eczematous skin. Sunscreens on open sore skin can cause irritation. By covering up with sun protection clothing, and limiting the use of sunscreens to those parts of the body that are not protected by the clothing, irritation to the skin can be limited.
www.beachfactory.com offer a great range of clothing for babies, children, teenagers and adults.
