Our skin is our largest organ and a very protective one. It is our mask to the world, and creates well being when it looks and feels good. It is said that every fifth person sufferers from eczema, psoriasis or some form of allergy and these often run in the family. Personally, I feel they are also ailments of the 21st Century caused by stress, eroded boundaries, related to our environment, i.e. foodstuffs or pollution to name but a few. It may even be evolutionary. Other research indicates that the cells in the skin called Langerhans cells are not functioning properly, in atopic eczema, they seem to be over sensitive. (Ref: Exchange, No93, June 1999; Atopic Eczema in young children by D J Atherton)
Living with eczema or psoriasis is a nightmare, 24 hours, day and night, an endless round of itching and scratching, often reducing the sufferers' self esteem, well being, concentration span and focus to despair. The only treatment often offered by G.P.'s are steroid creams and greasy emollients, but most people would like a natural alternative today. In my view, a topical treatment of the skin is vital as the red, hot, itchy dry skin can be unbearable but also it is important to heal the individual from within, if this is where the problem originates using, for example homoeopathy. Cranial Osteopathy has become very popular from newborn onwards. This treatment is very beneficial. Kinesiology is a good way to diagnose the problem and its origin, again, relatively new although thousands of years old. The world had become everyone's oyster with the computer popularity and a trend amongst many is to find their own natural treatment rather than use conventional treatment.
It is essential in my view, to deal with the skin directly, the itch being the biggest problem. It is therefore important to find a liquid soap / wash which does not contain any SLS (Sodium lauryl sulphate) , is chemical free, which is natural and doesn't contain synthetic smells, has anti-bacterial and anti inflammatory properties and is a cleanser. Such a product is hard to find. Secondly, there is a serious need to soothe and lubricate the often red and scaly skin. For this a Body Oil is needed . In the cosmetic and medical industry a lot of petrochemicals are used. They are cheap, they are fillers, they are barriers - they block the skin's pores.
More facts are:
1. They are by-products of the chemical industry
2. Not absorbed by the skin
3. Contain no vitamins
4. Seal the skin like plastic
5. Prevent proper oxygen uptake through the skin
6. Create dryness and dependency
7. Are non-edible
8. Broken down slowly, i.e. pollute earth and water
9. Do not go rancid
Facts about vegetable oils:
1. They are natural
2. They are absorbed by the skin
3. They contain vitamins A, D and E
4. They protect the skin by aiding and improving the natural function of the skin
5. They are edible, hence giving nourishment and energy to the body
6. They are biological and biodegradable
7. They can go rancid, are fragile and expensive
When looking for moisturisers it is important to check the ingredients and method of production. (Hand made is of course the very best!) The product has to be able to restore the itchy, red inflamed skin, and promote it to regenerate. Once a daily regime has been found to keep eczema under control, to help the self confidence back to normal. To know this will work for as long as the problem exists and has no side effects. Happiness evolves, which reflects back and gives a life which will be enjoyed.
I have, after years of research invented such a daily regime. It is crucial that this regime is used for 3 months to reap the best results. Complete success is claimed by 80-90% of our customers who have stuck to the following regime.
1. Trinity Soap and Shampoo It is vital to use the soap on all affected areas including the scalp because it is anti-bacterial and anti
inflammatory. Lather and leave on for 5-30 minutes. The longer the better. It is of no benefit to apply creams to infected skin. Trinity cleanses and prepares the itchy, red, flaky, crusty, dry skin. Showering off is preferable to bathing which dries out the skin.
Followed by REGIME PACK (1 or 2)
Trinity Soap and Shampoo - which consists of:
2. a) Bath and Body Oil is used for lubrication directly after washing with the Soap and drying the skin. The oil can be used several times a day if skin is very dry.
b) Day Cream Special is used to moisturise, feed and help restore the damaged skin after using the oil. Use little and often during the day.
c) Night Cream Extra to moisturise, feed and help restore the damaged skin. Use little and often throughout the night if necessary to calm the skin.
3. Eureka Cream is especially made for severe flare ups and stubborn areas, rich and substantial, it is also an excellent first aider.
