As a hairdresser and owner of a hairdressing salon, clients often asked me if I could help with their hair and scalp disorders. Unfortunately, I did not know the answers, but I did become aware of just how distressing some of these disorders could be. I decided to test a range of natural hair, scalp and skin products called Biosthetics, produced by eminent French biologist Marcel Contier, which are based on essential oils, amino acids and minerals etc.
During the following years of study and research, my treatments became increasingly helpful to my clients. I knew I was on the right course with a natural treatment for psoriasis and Eczema without side-effects, but where could I go from here?
Some time later, I attended an annual society congress where Marcel Contier gave a lecture. As psoriasis of the scalp was mentioned, I decided to show my reports to Mons. Contier and the encouragement I received from him gave me the inspiration I needed to continue my work.
Soon after, a Dr. S. J. L. Mount M.B., B.S., M.R.C.P., F.F.Hom., contacted me. I had helped a young patient of his with severe eczema in the scalp. The eczema was interfering with hair growth, as you can see in the photo of Emma.
As a result I was introduced to The London Natural Health Clinic, the first clinic of Complementary Medicine in London. The work at the clinic was an enormous challenge. I had for some time felt that Biosthetics could be helpful with some medical disorders. I now had the opportunity to put my theories to the test. Most patients I saw had already received hospital treatment and seen specialists in this country and abroad and had come to see me as a last resort. Biosthetics has been helpful in the majority of cases. I will mention a few :-
Maureen originally came to see me for a consultation for a hair loss problem. I couldn't help but notice a red area above and below the scarf she always wore around her neck. As Maureen's hair started to grow back, it gave her the confidence to remove her scarf and ask if I could help with her skin, a problem she had had for some 40 years. As you can see, the last time I saw her, the skin was well on it's way to recovery.
Angela had undergone medical and other types of treatment, unfortunately without success. By my method of detoxifying the scalp, her own oils came through to push the scales off and allow new hair to grow through.
The scalp and skin are very complex organs but with my experience of psoriasis and the help of a unique skin test within my therapy, I have developed a treatment that has proved helpful to eczema sufferers. Once I have determined the underlying cause, the eczema is reduced or cleared and then controlled in a natural way without side effects. When eczema is present in the scalp, it takes four months to trigger the self-healing powers of the skin with a combination of home and clinical treatment. When this is achieved, scaling and irritation are usually under control and the condition continues to improve.
I have found the antiseptic, fatty acids in the patient's own sebum (grease) have the most wonderful healing powers. By decongesting and detoxifying, I can encourage the patient's own oils to clear and then control the condition.
Eczema is like a deep cut or wound, the lower layers have to heal first before the surface can heal. This theory is borne out by the fact that patients feel better, that is the irritation subsides and they can once again sleep through the night, before there is superficial improvement.
Treatment can be complicated by topical corticosteroids, but patients are slowly weaned off these drugs for the skin.
Unfortunately, I do not as yet have a 'cure' for eczema but my treatments have helped patients, many of whom had or were about to give up hope, to lead more comfortable lives.
Finally, I would like to thank Emma, Maureen and Angela for giving permission for their photographs to be used.
